Five people, including three children, were injured Friday afternoon in a head-on crash on Garner Bagnal Boulevard, just east of Buffalo Shoals Road.
Two women and three children in a passenger car and a man in a pickup truck were all transported to hospitals for treatment. The driver of the car was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. She was pinned in the vehicle and crews from the Statesville Fire Department, Iredell Rescue Squad and Iredell EMS extricated her from the car.
Statesville Police Department Traffic Officer Ben Hardy said the all three of the children were in the back seat and were properly restrained.
Four of the five patients went to Iredell Memorial Hospital via Iredell EMS.
The crash closed Garner Bagnal Boulevard from Buffalo Shoals Road to Cochran Street for more than an hour Friday afternoon.
The names of those involved have not been released. No other information, including what led to the crash, was released.
