A Waynesboro, Pa., woman was seriously injured when the sport-utility vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a Penn State University bus Tuesday morning in Quincy Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Hannah L. Rowe, 18, was traveling north on Tomstown Road at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when she lost control of her SUV while negotiating a curve in the roadway. Her vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck the bus, which was traveling southbound, head on, a state police news release said.
The SUV struck a guardrail on the west side of the roadway and continued over the guardrail. The vehicle overturned one time before landing on its wheels at the bottom of an embankment. Rowe, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the windshield at some point during the crash, police said.
Rowe was treated at the scene by emergency personnel before being transported by ambulance to a Life Flight location, then was flown to York Trauma Center, the release said.
