Vilas County, WI : 67-year-old woman killed in bus crash in Vilas County Thursday on July 24, 2014
The 67-year-old woman who was killed in a bus crash in Vilas County Thursday has been identified as Barbara Hilleque of Minocqua.
Officials say she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
Fourteen other people were hurt when two vehicles and a small tourist bush crashed just north of Minocqua, according to State Patrol.
The bus was carrying 13 passengers from the Beloit area, officials say.
Two cars traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 51 collided, pushing the one driven by Hilleque into the bus' path, State Patrol Lt. Steve Krueger said.
"We want to find out what happened with a goal of preventing it from happening in the future," said Krueger told Thursday.
The bus carried people ages 40 to 85 and all were taken to a Woodruff hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the investigator said.
It is unknown at this time why the travelers were in northern Wisconsin.
U.S. Highway 51 was closed following the crash about 10:15 a.m., and reopened about 2 p.m., authorities said.
