A 79-year-old woman from Corona died after a collision on Old Highway 395 in Bonsall Wednesday, authorities said.

She was heading south and for an unknown reason, swerved into the path of an oncoming car. Two children and two adults in the second car suffered minor to moderate injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday as the two vehicles approached Dulin Road from opposite directions, the CHP said.

A CHP report said the Corona woman lost control of her GMC vehicle and skidded into the northbound lane. She hit an Acura driven by a 39-year-old Fallbrook woman.

Medics took everyone to various hospitals. The Corona driver, whose name has not been released, died.

The other driver and a passenger, a 38-year-old Fallbrook man, suffered moderate injuries, the CHP report said. Two boys, ages 2 and 7, had minor injuries. The report did not clarify whether the adults are the childrens’ parents.
