A two-vehicle wreck in south Taylor County on Saturday afternoon left a Kyle man dead, the Department of Public Safety reported Sunday.
James C. Sheward, 33, was a passenger in a 2011 Honda sedan traveling south on U.S. Highway 84.
At 3:45 p.m., about three miles southeast of Tuscola, a 2011 Ford pickup being driven north by Nicholas Randell Barton, 28, of Abilene, crossed into the south lane, striking the car head-on, according to a DPS news release.
Sheward was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sparky Dean.
The driver of the car, James Edward Smith, 38, also of Kyle, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, where he was treated and released, the DPS said, adding that no injuries were reported for Barton.
All three men were wearing seat belts, according to the news release.
The crash is under investigation, the DPS said.
