A Wyoming man was killed and his wife was injured in a head-on collision of their car with a fertilizer company’s semi on Illinois Route 17 outside Wyoming Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Gerald Patrick McGinn, 84, was pronounced dead at 3:34 p.m. at the scene of the crash of the westbound car and eastbound semi just east of Wyoming., said Stark County Sheriff and Coroner Steve Sloan.
Passenger Joanne McGinn, 82, was transported to UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria by Stark County Ambulance, Sloan said in a news release. No further information about her condition was immediately available.
The driver of the Kraft Fertilizer Inc. truck, James Evan Gerard, 45, of Toulon had minor injuries, the release said. It did not state whether he was transported.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and a Kewanee Police Department reconstructionist. Also assisting at the scene was the Wyoming Fire Department.
