Memphis, TN : Man killed in head-on wrong-way crash Interstate 240 near Walnut Grove on Tuesday December 8 2015

A deadly crash shutdown part of Interstate 240 near Walnut Grove on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators closed all but one lane of the interstate for several hours as they worked the crash.
Memphis Police Department identified the victim of the crash as 29-year-old Adam Cole.
MPD said Cole drove his Nissan SUV the wrong way on the interstate. Construction workers in the area said they tried to flag Cole down and stop him, but he refused to stop.
He stopped [on the exit ramp] for 5 minutes," one construction worker said. "He stopped there for 5 minutes, and then he took off."
Police said Cole's SUV hit a wrecker head on. Memphis firefighters tried to pry Cole from the wreckage, but they were unable to get him out and save his life.
Memphis police officers are still trying to figure out why Cole was traveling the wrong way on the interstate.
