Portland, OR : Pedestrian struck, killed on SE Portland sidewalk Monday afternoon on August 18, 2014

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Monday afternoon on Southeast Division and 66th Avenue while he was walking on a sidewalk, Portland police say. Police and paramedics were called to the scene just after 3 p.m. They found a man on the ground suffering from traumatic injuries. They treated the man at the scene but could not save him. Police say an 84-year-old woman was driving westbound on Southeast Division Street when she crossed the eastbound lanes and hit the man, who was on the south sidewalk. She then crashed into a telephone poll. Police say the female driver was traumatically injured and was taken to the hospital. She is expected to survive.
