Taunton, MA : 21-year-old Middleboro man dies in Vermont crash on Monday, September 19th 2016

A 21-year-old Middleboro man was killed when the 2004 Jeep Cherokee he was driving crashed into a telephone pole, Vermont State Police said.

Alex Paduch, who was wearing his seat belt, was found dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.

Police believe speed appears to be a factor in the crash which happened shortly before 2 a.m., Monday on McGoff Hill Road in Lyndon. It was also raining at the time.

Paduch traveling north when the Jeep went off the east shoulder of the road and hit the telephone pole on the drivers' side, the police report said.

According to his Linked-in page, Paduch was studying broadcast journalism at nearby Lyndon State while working at local TV station. He was to graduate in 2017.

Paduch was a 2013 graduate of Middleboro High and was a distance runner for both the indoor and outdoor track teams.

Members from Lyndonville Fire Department, Lyndon Rescue and a local ambulance service also responded responded to the scene along with the state troopers. The crash remains investigation.

Paduch is the second 21-year-old, 2013 graduate of a local high school man who was a student at a northern Vermont college to die in less than a week in the Green Mountain State.

Jeremiah Collins, a 2013 Bridgewater-Raynham High School graduate, was found dead early last Wednesday in a park near the Colchester, Vermont campus of St. Michael’s College, where he was scheduled to graduate next spring. Police said that foul play is not suspected in Collins' death.
