The State Highway Patrol has identified the suspect and the victim involved in a fatal wreck involving a motorcycle Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt. Michael Baker, troopers attempted to stop a 2013 Toyota traveling east on US 74 in Brunswick County for going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The driver, identified as Eduard Patrick, 26, of Liberty, did not stop, and led troopers on a chase into New Hanover County.
Just after 7:15 a.m., Patrick's vehicle ran a red light and collided with a motorcyclist, identified as Shaun R.J. Murdock, 38, of Wilmington, who worked for Corning. The accident happened near the intersection of South College Road and Peachtree Avenue.
Evidence suggests Murdock was heading south on South College Road toward Oleander Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Patrick left the scene traveling east on Kerr Avenue when a trooper performed a precision immobilization technique, known as a PIT maneuver, to stop the vehicle at the intersection of MacMillan Avenue and Pine Grove Drive, according to officials.
