Emporia, KS : Oklahoma teens injured in KTA wreck on Thursday, August 10, 2017
Two teenagers from Oklahoma were injured in a rollover on the Kansas Turnpike Thursday evening.
According to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 5:52 p.m. Thursday, 19-year-old Isaiah Duran of Oklahoma City was southbound near mile-marker 112 on the Kansas Turnpike — about 15 miles south of the Emporia Tollgate. He lost control of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving and ran off the roadway into the west ditch, where he struck a culvert and the vehicle overturned.
Duran was transported to Newman Regional Health due to injuries he sustained in the crash. A 16-year-old juvenile passenger in the vehicle was also injured, but did not require emergency transport. The injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts when the accident occurred.
