Professional pool player Scotty Townsend has died following an accident between Drew and Farmerville.
Authorities tell KNOE-TV it happened about 6 p.m. Thursday on Louisiana Highway 552.
According to police, Townsend was driving his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it slid out of control, hitting a tree. Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 56 years old.
Townsend was well known in the Louisiana billiard community and traveled all over the country during his years as a professional. One of his most notable achievements was a third place finish in the 1995 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship, where he was defeated by legendary pool player Johnny Archer.
