One person was injured and another was charged with reckless driving following a six-car crash at the intersection of Rio Road and U.S. 29 on Monday afternoon.
The crash toppled over a pedestrian signal on the median on the west side of the intersection.The collision began when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma — driving southbound on the onramp leading to the Rio Road overpass — struck two vehicles traveling in the same direction, according to Albemarle County police spokeswoman Madeline Curott.
One of the cars that was struck by the Tacoma rear-ended another vehicle, pushing it into the path of two oncoming cars in the middle of the intersection, Curott said.
