Traffic is backed up on Highway 501 in both directions in Conway

Traffic is backed up on Highway 501 in both directions in Conway, after a wreck happened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The wreck happened at East Cox Ferry Road and Highway 501.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is reporting injuries. There were at least two vehicles involved, a van and a sedan.

Conway Fire crews and Horry County Fire Rescue firefighters are on scene.

NewsChannel 15's Jack Lamson was on scene and saw two people pulled from the car by Conway Fire Rescue and Horry County Fire Rescue.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

The crash is under investigation.
