Phoenix, AZ : 1 motorcyclist killed, another injured in Phoenix car crash on Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2017

One motorcyclist was killed and another injured following a collision with a car at Cave Creek and Utopia roads on Saturday afternoon, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade said one adult male motorcyclist was taken to a local trauma center with extremely critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other motorcyclist, a woman, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, McDade said.

Police said the driver of the car was evaluated on-scene and refused transportation to the hospital.

The Phoenix Police Department has taken over the investigation.

Cave Creek Road is closed in the immediate area. It will reopen later Saturday night, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, Phoenix police spokesman.
