Post Falls, ID : Elk teenager dies after motorcycle crash on Interstate 90 Thursday evening, April 16, 2015
A motorcycle accident Thursday night killed a teenager from Elk, Washington.
Idaho State Police said 18-year-old Ryan Tachell was traveling eastbound on I-90 on his motorcycle approaching the construction zone near the area of Spokane Street. Traffic was backed up from the construction zone when Tachell lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the median barrier.
Riverside High School confirmed that Tachell was a student there. The school is located east of Deer Park, Washington. The entire community is mourning the loss of the high school senior.
Students and staff said Tachell was friends with everyone and was a great student.
"He was always the nicest person, always giving hugs to everyone, just making sure that everyone has a smile on their face," said Riverside Senior Brandon Osusky.
The impact he had on so many as a student could be seen across the street from school. Friends gathered in a group at one of their favorite lunch spots to share memories about Tachell.
"There was never a dull moment with him, dull wasn't in his vocabulary," said friend Jacob Collins.
The community will come together on Sunday at the school's stadium for a candlelight vigil.
Students were able to talk to grief counselors Friday at school.
