POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, OK : “Somebody is hurt terribly,” Man crashes car while chasing robbers on Thursday, 11th August, 2016

Pottawatomie County authorities are called out to a terrible car accident but, when they get on scene, find much more than they expected.

The crash happened just north of Shawnee near Highway 18 on Thursday.And, it's a good thing witnesses who called 911 kept the young man lying down.Authorities believe he has a broken back.The vehicle was soon impounded, and the man in the road was rushed to a hospital.

Investigators believe he was robbed and, during the incident, chased after the suspects.

"The victim chased the individuals that were in the vehicle trying to get his property back and dove into the vehicle while it was moving,” said Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth.

The suspects soon crashed their car in a ditch.

The suspects took off and left the victim in the middle of a country road.

Investigators said they know who the suspects are.

The victim is hospitalized and will likely undergo surgery.
