Manhattan,KS : Woman sent to hospital after Manhattan car crash on September, Tuesday 12th 2017
One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident that closed part of U.S. Highway 24 Tuesday afternoon.
The Riley County Police reports the crash was called in just before 2:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East Poyntz. The Kansas Highway Patrol later said a car collided with a tractor trailer on the highway as the car was crossing the westbound lanes.
KHP said Karen Dyson, 78, of Clay Center, was taken to Via Christi in Manhattan with injuries. The seriousness of the injuries are unknown at this time. The Manhattan Fire Department reported extrication was needed for the accident.
The other driver was not injured in the crash. Both drivers involved were wearing seat-beats.
The crash shut down the highway east of the intersection at Tuttle Creek and was reopened just before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating.
