STATEN ISLAND, NY : 2 taken to hospital from crash on Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge on Wednesday, 24th February 2021

A crash sent two people to the hospital and all lanes of the approach to the upper level of the Staten Island-bound Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge are blocked during the emergency response on Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported at about 9:50 a.m. at 92nd Street and the Gowanus Expressway on the approach to the bridge.

Two people were transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze and a third person refused medical attention, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

The lower level remains open, according to the MTA alert posted shortly before 10 a.m.
