South Carolina man pleads not guilty in crash that killed police officer

A not guilty plea has been entered by a South Carolina man accused in an Oct. 30 crash that killed a Pontiac police officer and his canine partner.Jason C. Collins, 33, of West Columbia entered the plea in Livingston County Circuit Court with his attorney Brendan Bukalski.
Collins is charged with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, both felonies, and misdemeanor driving under the influence. Collins was driving a pickup truck on Interstate 55 when it struck the marked police car, killing Officer Casey Kohlmeier and his dog, Draco, according to police reports.
