Maryville, MO : Two peope injured in three-vehicle collision on Highway 71 on Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2016
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as two vehicles, a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Blake A. Smith, 27, Maryville, and a 2001 Dodge 2500 pickup truck driven by Bradley K. Porter, 31, Hopkins, were southbound when the Chrysler van stopped in the southbound lane to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot.
Porter reportedly failed to bring his pickup to a stop in time to avoid striking the van from the rear. The impact, the patrol stated, caused the van to travel across the left lane and into the parking lot, where it struck a stationary 1986 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado pickup truck containing the driver, Klinton M. McKee, 24, of Sheridan, and a passenger, Michael F. McKee, 60, of Hopkins.
The elder McKee suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. Neither of the men was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol report. All others involved in the incident were secured inside their vehicles.
Also suffering minor injuries was Robecca J. Langley, 32, Maryville, who was one of three passengers in the Chrysler van. She was taken to St. Francis by ambulance.
The van also contained two infants one year of age or younger, Haizen E. Smith and Kaulder J. Smith, both of Maryville. Neither was hurt.
Trooper J.D. Farmer worked the accident. He was assisted by Trooper D.E. Sigman and personnel from the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office.
