The Weld County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcycle driver who died Saturday afternoon as Jessie Janway Jr., of Greeley.
Colorado State Patrol officials say Janway Jr., 70, died after he lost control of his motorcycle at 3:22 p.m. Saturday while negotiating a curve on East 18th Street near the U.S. 34 Bypass just east of Greeley. Janway Jr. and his motorcycle went off the road and struck a concrete wall. Janway Jr. came to rest on the shore of a pond, and the motorcycle ended up in the pond, according to authorities.
Janway Jr. was taken to North Colorado Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead there.
Janway Jr. is the seventh person to die on Weld County roads this year. Twenty-four had died by this time last year.
