Anchorage, AK : Man critically injured in highway off-ramp crash on Thursday, June 16, 2016

An Anchorage woman is being held on suspicion of felony assault and operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs after a traffic crash that left a man critically injured.

Anchorage police Thursday arrested 32-year-old Tamara Dayton after the early morning crash Thursday on O'Malley Road near the Seward Highway.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Dayton, who was jailed.

Police say a pickup driven by 35-year-old William Mathisen Jr. at about 1:40 a.m. took the southbound exit ramp off the highway onto O'Malley.

Witnesses tell police that Dayton's compact car ran a red light and crashed into Mathisen's pickup.
He was ejected. Emergency responders took him to an Anchorage hospital.

A passenger in the pickup was unhurt.

Police closed the road for three hours.
