CASS COUNTY, MI : High-speed chase from Elkhart to Cassopolis ends in crash, driver in custody on Tuesday, 21st February 2023

A driver is in custody after he crashed his vehicle east of Cassopolis, ending a 20-mile cross-county police pursuit.

Officials in both Elkhart and Cass counties confirmed the pursuit started around 9:15 p.m. near West Beardsley Ave. and North Michigan St. in Elkhart.

The chase then continued into Cass County, heading north into Cassopolis and then west into La Grange Township.

The suspect vehicle hit several stop sticks, disabling it, before stopping near a wooded area.

The driver ran into the woods before being tracked by K-9 Neera, who found the suspect hiding in thick underbrush, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

According to deputies, the suspect was wanted for attempted homicide. His identity is being withheld pending arraignment.
