Bakersfield, CA : An adult male died as a result of a head-on collision on Sunday, January, 28th 2018

An adult male died as a result of a head-on collision and three passengers were hospitalized on Sunday morning, said the BPD in a news release.

Officers responded to a traffic collision at the 1900 block of Ming Avenue at 11:31 a.m., where upon arrival witnesses said a black Ford Crown Victoria was traveling eastbound and had crossed over into the westbound lanes.

The Crown Victoria struck a red, Ford SUV head-on, which caused a white GMC pickup truck to hit the rear of the SUV, the news release said.

The driver of the SUV was pinned inside, one passenger ejected from the SUV and another juvenile inside the SUV, the BPD said. An adult man was found inside the Crown Victoria and later pronounced dead. The three found in the SUV were transported to a hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and it's unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor, the release said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the department at 327-7111.
