North Topeka, KS : One killed early in North Topeka crash on Wednesday, 3rd October 2018

Shortly after their arrival, police officers placed crime scene tape along a nearly two-block area on Morse, stretching to near N.W. Jackson on the west and N. Kansas Avenue on the east.

Traffic on N.W. Morse was diverted around the scene while the police department’s Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.

Shortly after the crash was reported, and about an hour before sunrise, officers with flashlights could be seen looking for evidence in the westbound lanes of N.W. Morse just east of Central.

The pickup truck came to rest on the west side of Central, immediately north of Morse. It was facing east, toward the location across the street where the fatality victim was found. The truck’s driver’s door was open but the passenger door was closed. The truck didn’t appear to have sustained major damage.

The pickup truck’s back tires were over the sidewalk on the west side of Central. Its right front tire was on the curb and its left front tire was on Central.A

Several neighbors who had come out to see what had happened reported that they didn’t hear anything about the time of the crash.

Police about 4:45 p.m. said no arrests had been made in connection with the crash.
