WEST GREENWICH, RI : 8 injured in West Greenwich crash involving school on Monday, 13th May 2024

Eight people were hurt Monday night in a crash involving a school bus on I-95 in West Greenwich.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. near northbound Exit 14B.

Rhode Island State Police said a truck towing a portable arrow board for a R.I. Department of Transportation construction detail exited the center median in front of the school bus. The bus swerved to the left and hit the arrow board, knocking it off of the truck.

West Warwick Superintendent Karen Tarasevich told 12 News the bus was transporting 41 members of the high school track team home from a meet in Westerly.

Four students, the bus driver and three workers in the RIDOT truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
