BEDIAS, TX : Two children killed in Bedias crash on Wednesday, 16th May 2018
Two passengers, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old, have been pronounced deceased after a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning along State Highway 90 south of Bedias.
According to Trooper Jimmy Morgan with the Texas Department of Public Safety, preliminary investigations show that shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday a northbound 2007 Mazda passenger vehicle slowed to make a left turn into a private drive when the Mazda was struck from behind by a 2015 Kenworth semi-truck with trailer.
The driver of the Mazda, Montiqua Mosley, 26, of Bedias was transported by ambulance for serious injuries to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. A 6-year-old passenger was transported by helicopter to McLane Scott & White Hospital in Temple for serious injuries. Justice of the Peace Chris Acord pronounced the 5-year-old and 2-year-old deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was Mickael Compton, 30, of Elkland, Missouri, was uninjured in the collision.
Authorities diverted traffic to FM 1696 and FM 39 while the crash was investigated. Roadways are now open.
The investigation remains ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
