Maryland City, MD : Five people injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway early Sunday morning, September 11, 2016

Five people were injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Maryland City, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded just after 2:30 a.m. to the southbound lanes of the parkway in the area south of Route 198 for a report of an overturned vehicle with occupants ejected and trapped, Capt. Russ Davies said.

When firefighters arrived, they found a two-vehicle accident involving an SUV that had left the roadway and overturned, Davies said.

The occupants had removed themselves before firefighters arrived, he said.

Three people who had been riding in the SUV were seriously injured, including a 27-year-old man who was ejected during the crash, Davies said.

The 27-year-old was flown to the trauma center at Prince George's Hospital Center with injuries.

A 33-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were taken by paramedics to the Prince George's trauma center and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, respectively.

All three men's injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Two people from the second vehicle – a 57-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man – suffered minor injuries and were taken to Laurel Regional Hospital, Davies said.
