Plains, KS : Man injured after a Semi catches on fire in Seward County on Monday, February 29, 2016

A man was sent to the hospital Monday after his semi caught on fire in Seward County.

At around 8:30 a.m., Stephen Craig Boeding, 62, of Kansas City, was heading west on U.S. 54 about 3 miles west of Plains in an 2016 Freightliner semi pulling a trailer and for unknown reasons, he went left of center, entering the south ditch. His vehicle then rolled once coming to rest upright in the ditch and then caught on fire, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Boeding was sent to Southwest Medical Center for injuries. His condition was not immediately available.

He was wearing his seat belt.
