Memphis,TN : Driver charged in hit-and-run that killed 3-year-old and injured her mother on February, Sunday 18th 2018

A man is behind bars after a child was killed and an adult wounded in a hit-and-run Sunday night.

The crash happened at the corner of Stage Road and Thomas Street.

Darneshia Lewis and her 3-year-old daughter, Kylee Grant, were hit by the driver, who left the scene.

The child did not survive. Lewis was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said Gregory Williams, 44, was responsible for the crash.

Williams is charged with reckless driving, reckless homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, driving while license is suspended, improper lane changing, and violation of financial law.

Williams' criminal history dates back to 1991. He's previously been convicted of domestic assault, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, and been charged with several other crimes.
