A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.It happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 574 and Lake Drive.
Gary Sheets, 49, was crossing the street on foot when he was struck by a dark colored sedan, investigators said. The driver left the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information to call (813) 631-4020.
That wasn't the only crash involving a pedestrian in Hillsborough County.
Around 2:30 p.m., Craig Allen Yates, 33, walked into the path of a 2001 Saturn near the intersection of North Dale Mabry Highway and West Waters Avenue, FHP said. The driver of the car, 25-year-old Briana Marie Peters, was not injured.
Yates was being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. His injuries were said to be critical.
