Salida, CO : Woman injured in near head-on collision on U.S. 50 in Poncha Springs on Sunday, July 31, 2016
A bad decision on a left-hand turn led to a nearly head-on collision Sunday, Colorado State Trooper Brandon Wilkins said.
Anthony Clark, Boulder, was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and towing a camper trailer when he attempted a left turn into the joint parking lot of the Shell Gas Station and Tony’s Restaurant off U.S. 50 in Poncha Springs.
Cheyenne Johnson, Salida, who was driving a 1993 Buick Regal eastbound, braked but was unable to stop before hitting Clark on the front-right part of his truck.
Wilkins said there were only minor injuries, although he did not believe Johnson was wearing a seat belt.
No alcohol, drugs or excess speed affected the wreck, Wilkins said, and Clark was cited for improper left turn.
