Trotwood, OH : Deputy, person in second car, injured in vehicle crash on state Route 49 in Montgomery County on Monday, January 18, 2016

An accident that sent a Montgomery County sheriff's deputy and one person in the second vehicle to hospitals is under investigation by the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Sgt. John Chesser, of the Dayton post, said the deputy was headed north on state Route 49 on a burglary call — lights and siren activated — when the accident occurred with an SUV at Wolf Creek Pike.

The SUV carrying a driver and passenger, was headed east on Wolf Creek Pike, Chesser said.
The deputy, who was not identified by name, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

A passenger in the SUV also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. The driver apparently was not injured.

Chesser said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Traffic on 49 North (the Northwest Connector) was shut down for a time because of the accident.
