State police say two women died when their car ran off the road and struck a tree in Rapides Parish.

Master Trooper Scott Moreau says the accident happened around 12:15 a.m. Thursday on Louisiana Highway 1205 east of Pineville.

Moreau says the driver of the car, 31-year-old Heather Cosenza, of Boyce, was taken to an Alexandria hospital where she was pronounced dead.

He says her passenger, 29-year-old Ashley Nicole Gallien, of Pineville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreau says both women were not wearing a seatbelt.
