CLARNO, OR : A car vs motorcycle crash on Sunday, July 2, 2017
Two people were hurt, including one person who was seriously injured, after a car vs motorcycle crash in Green County early Sunday morning.
According to the Green County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday July 2 at 12:46 a.m., Green County Deputies, along with the Monroe Fire Department and Green County EMS, responded to a car vs motorcycle crash on State Highway 11 near Steiner Road in the Town of Clarno.
Initial investigation revealed that a 2014 Ford Focus operated by a 33-year-old female from Monroe was traveling eastbound of State HWY 11 when the car appeared to have crossed the center line and collided with a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle operated by a 26-year-old male from Warren, Illinois.
Police say the driver of the motorcycle was ejected. The motorcycle exited the roadway and came to rest on the North shoulder of the Highway. The car continued eastbound, exiting the roadway and also came to rest in the North ditch.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital where he was later flown by Med-flight to the UW Hospital in Madison for continued treatment. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the car sustained injuries and was transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for evaluation. The car's airbags were deployed, and she was wearing her seat belt.
The Green County Detectives Division and the Wisconsin State Patrol crash reconstruction team assisted at the scene with the investigation. The Green County Highway Department also assisted as State HWY 11 was closed for about 5 1/2 hours for the initial investigation.
The driver's names are being withheld pending additional investigation. Charges are also pending further investigation.
