Lake County, IL : Motorcycle driver killed in Wadsworth crash on Saturday night, February 18, 2017
A 42-year-old Beach Park man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with another car in Wadsworth.
The Lake County sheriff's police said the preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling south on Route 41 north of Route 173, in Wadsworth when it rear-ended a 1985 Pontiac Fiero.
The driver of the motorcycle was thrown. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was not wearing a helmet, sheriff's police said in a written news release on the crash. Illinois law does not require motorcyclists to wear helmets.
The 63-year-old Gurnee driver of the Fiero was not injured, police said.
No citations had been issued as of Sunday afternoon, Sgt. Gianni Giamberduca said. Additional information, including the cause of the crash and the speed at which the vehicles were traveling, was not immediately available.
The identity of the motorcycle driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Lake County Coroner's Office.
The crash is being investigated by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
