WILTON, CT : Driver causes 2 crashes; dies in the second on Wednesday, 20th December 2023

A driver that left the scene of an accident on the Merritt Parkway and engaged police in a pursuit was later found in a deadly crash.

The driver of a gray SUV identified as Amir Maalyjah Goodall-Reid, 28, was initially involved in a hit and run on the Merritt Parkway on Wednesday night.

Goodall-Reid left the scene then was later reported to be traveling northbound on Danbury Road near the intersection with Sharp Hill Road and driving in the opposite lane of traffic.

Officers saw the car as it approached the intersection with Old Highway and activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop it.

Police were able to get a plate, but Goodall-Reid did not stop at the officers’ signals and continued on, at a very low rate of speed, around 10 mph.

Goodall-Reid’s car also appeared to be missing one of its wheels, likely due to the damage from the first incident, police said.
