Midland, TX : One dead, one injured in Midland County accident on Friday, April 1, 2016

A 58-year-old Midland man died and his 61-year-old passenger was injured after a vehicle reportedly entered their lane and collided with their vehicle.
Edward James Pittinger was pronounced dead around 12:45 p.m. Friday by Midland County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 David Cobos, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Pittinger’s passenger, Karen Sue Pittinger, suffered “non-incapacitating injuries,” the release stated, but it was not known if she was transported to the hospital. Both Karen and Edward were reportedly wearing their seatbelts.
Edward James Pittinger was driving a 2012 Mercedes GL 450 east on State Highway 158, about seven miles west of Midland, when a 2013 Kenworth truck-tractor driving west drifted into the other lane and collided with the Mercedes, according to the release.
The driver of the Kenworth vehicle, 49-year-old Librado Mares-Ochoa, was not reported as injured and was wearing his seatbelt. No citations were issued at the scene.
Trooper Mike Baskerville was the lead investigator for the crash.
