A pedestrian pushing a wheelbarrow died after an alleged intoxicated driver hit him in Mt. Morris Township on Monday evening.
Police say 62-year-old Donald Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 3100 block of Carpenter Road around 5:10 p.m.
The Mt. Morris Township Police Department says a 64-year-old man from Flint was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt west on Carpenter Road at a high rate of speed when he ran the red light at Clio Road.
He hit Davis, who was pushing a wheelbarrow across the road. Witnesses say Davis became partially lodged in the car, which continued traveling westbound.
The driver, who was not identified, went off the road and slid backward into a utility pole, which broke and was left dangling over Carpenter Road.
Police found Davis' body lying in the front yard of a residence. His wheelbarrow was still in the road when police arrived.
