A man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash in Norfolk Wednesday night, police said.
The crash happened shortly after 8:20 p.m. in the 6600 block of N. Military Highway, at Longdale Drive, according to a police department news release.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 58-year-old man, was found lying in the roadway, unresponsive. He died at the scene, police said.
Investigators think a Ford SUV was traveling northbound on Military Highway and attempted to make a left turn onto Longdale Drive. The Ford pulled into the oncoming traffic lanes and was incidentally struck by a motorcyclist that was traveling southbound on Military Highway.The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike, the release states.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, a 33-year-old woman, was uninjured and remained at the scene, police said.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash, the release states.
