Carbondale, IL : Two injured in head-on crash in Energy Wednesday, February 1, 2017

A dump truck traveling against the flow of traffic collided head-on with another vehicle Wednesday, leaving two people injured, Illinois State Police said in a news release.

Preliminary investigative details indicated that Robert Wright, 72, was driving a 2009 Ford dump truck northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 148 near Wade Street in Energy when his vehicle struck a 2014 Toyota Camry head-on, authorities said.

The impact pushed the Camry, driven by 61-year-old Ann Field, into another car that was also traveling southbound.

Wright and Field were both transported by ambulance to Herrin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Wright was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
