Stanton, NE : Five injured in one-vehicle accident near Stanton on Sunday evening, July 10, 2016
Five people were injured in a one-vehicle accident Sunday evening near Stanton with one passenger flown to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
According to Stanton County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas Samano, 14, of Norfolk was extricated by Stanton Fire and Rescue before being flown to Sioux City.
Driver Martrial Edwards, 16, of Norfolk, and three other passengers, Jace Monday, 14, of Stanton; Shawn Sulley, Jr. , 16, of Norfolk; and Zaevyen Frisch, 14, of Stanton were all taken to Faith Regional Health Services.
According to the sheriff's office, the accident occurred at about 9 p.m. less than one mile north of Stanton on Ridge Road. Edwards lost control of the vehicle entered the east ditch and struck a group of trees.
Seatbelts were used by some of the occupants. Speed is considered a contributing factor.
Edwards was cited for no driver's license. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
