Syracuse, NY : 19-year-old from Oneida killed in a three-car crash near Destiny USA in Syracuse on Sunday night, January 18, 2015

The driver of a pickup who T-boned a 19-year-old's Toyota, causing the man's death, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, police said.

Leonard Glowacki, 38, of 232 Columbus Ave. in Syracuse, was drunk when he collided with the car driven by 19-year-old Kane Buss, of Oneida, Sgt. Gary Bulinski said in a news release.

Glowacki has been charged with felonies first-degree vehicular manslaughter, first-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation as well as misdemeanor reckless operation and several traffic tickets.

The fatal crash happened at Hiawatha Boulevard West and Solar Street, near an entrance to Destiny USA, around 9:25 p.m., police said.
Buss, who had 18-year-old Amanda Pawlikowski, of Vernon, in his car, was attempting to make a left turn out of Destiny USA to head west on Hiawatha Boulevard when his vehicle was struck by a Glowacki's 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, police said.

Glowacki was driving west on Hiawatha Boulevard. After colliding, the two vehicles struck a Kia Sedona which was in the eastbound lane of Hiawatha Boulevard, police said.

Buss and Pawlikowski were both transported to Upstate University Hospital, where Buss was pronounced dead. Pawlikowski is in serious condition, Bulinski said.

Glowacki was also transported to Upstate, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, he said.

David Smolnycki, 60, of Syracuse was the driver of the Kia. He was not injured, police said. His passenger, Dawn Smolnycki, 65, of Syracuse, was transported to Crouse Hospital after she complained of chest pain, police said. She has since been released, Bulinski said.
