Blount County, TN : 8-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash in Blount County on Wednesday, October 22, 2014

An 8-year-old boy was killed Wednesday afternoon after an SUV ran off the road and hit several trees in Blount County. It happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Mint Road and Walker School Road. Officers say 44-year-old Robin Hatcher was driving south on Mint Road when she lost control of her 2001 Mazda Tribute. The SUV ran off the side of the road and hit several trees along the ditch line before coming to a rest in the ditch. Eli Hatcher, 8, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say the 8-year-old wasn't properly restrained. Robin Hatcher and another 8-year-old passenger are both receiving treatment at UT Medical Center. Officers say they were both wearing seatbelts. The Blount County Sheriff's Office's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident. Source : 8-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash
