JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO : 79-year-old killed in car crash in Jefferson County on Monday, January, 1st 2018
A 79-year-old man was killed and two other men were injured Monday during a car crash along U.S. Route 67.
The wreck happened at 10:10 a.m. near Montauk Drive as Gerald Beers, 79, of Festus failed to yield to a 2000 Ford Excursion driven by Paul Fears, 32, of Festus, as Beers was trying to cross U.S. Route 67 from Montauk Drive, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Fears' car struck the left side of Beers' 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, sending it into the left lane of traffic and into the right side of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 15-year-old Christopher Singleton of Bonne Terre, according to the patrol.
All three drivers were taken to the hospital. Beers was pronounced dead at 10:53 a.m., according to the patrol.
