The N.C. Highway Patrol says a teenager was killed when he was struck by a patrol cruiser while trying to cross a highway in Fayetteville. Lt. Jeff Gordon said 17-year-old Christopher Mason McCray of Stedman was killed Monday night. In a statement released Tuesday, Gordon said a trooper was driving south on the All American Freeway en route to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center to complete an investigation into a wreck in Harnett County. Gordon said the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, ran into the roadway and into the path of the trooper's car. McCray died at the scene.
