Longview, TX : Man killed in 1-car wreck in Longview early Sunday, March 19, 2017

A 27-year-old man died after a one-car wreck early Sunday in southwest Longview, Gregg County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Tim Bryan said.

The victim later was identified as Bartez Ladarius Dunn of Longview.

Dunn's vehicle was southbound in the 1400 block of Cherokee Street just west of Pine Tree Pirate Stadium when it appeared to have lost control at a curve then struck a tree at a nearby home, Bryan said, adding that it appeared the driver was going too fast when he approached the curve.

Bryan said the driver was deceased when Longview firefighters arrived at the scene.

A standard toxicology report was ordered, though it's unknown if alcohol played a role in the wreck, he said.
