A an elderly Tellico Plains woman was killed after a wreck involving three cars on U.S. Highway 411 Monday morning

A release from the Blount County Sheriff's Office says Lola Walker, 72, died at UT Medical Center late Monday afternoon. A passenger in her car, James L. Gray, 76, remains at UT Medical. His condition has not been released.

The driver of another vehicle, Haley Sparks, 19, of Maryville, is receiving treatment at Blount Memorial Hospital.

The driver that caused the crash, Jason David Dyer, 27, of Walland, was flown by Life Star to UT Medical Center.

Officers say Dyer was heading north on Highway 411 and began passing other cars from the turn lane. They also say he was speeding.

Near Springview Road, Dyer lost control and drifted into the southbound lane and struck Sparks head on.

That caused the left from wheel of Dyer’s vehicle to sheer off, causing the vehicle to rotate counter clock-wise and into the path of Walker’s car. Walker was also traveling south. This impact caused Dyer to be ejected out of the passenger side window and onto the roadway.
