Crash kills father, 3 children in Lake City Florida

Florida Highway Patrol troopers have identified the man and his three children killed Friday night when their car crashed into a tree.

It happened just before 7 p.m. along State Road 33 near Groveland Airport Road in Lake County.Troopers said 41-year-old Wilfredo Malave man was driving a 2009 Mercedes when it appears he lost control rounding a curve, drove off the shoulder and into several trees.
Wilfredo and his 9-year-old son Zion died at the scene. Seven-year-old Phoenix and 2-year-old Avaya Malave were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The speed limit on that stretch of road is 60 miles per hour.Homicide investigators are working to determine how fast the father was going when they crashed.
Troopers at the scene said there were a few people who witnessed this crash and all have given statements.
